Surrender and Untamed reissued with new material

Penguin, the publisher that puts out my I-Team series, bought three books from my historical backlist—Ride the Fire and the first two MacKinnon's Ranger books, Surrender and Untamed—and will be re-issuing them, together with new content and new covers.
Surrender will be out in December 2011, and Untamed will be released in January 2012, just in time for Connor's book, which will be on bookstore shelves in February 2012.
This version of Surrender—I jokingly call it Surrender 2.0—has three new scenes, an extended scene, and a fresh edit, while Ride the Fire will contain the never-before-released epilogue, and Untamed will feature 25 pages of restored content, as well as a fresh edit. Think of them as the "author's cuts" of these books, available for the first time as I intended them to be read.
Ride the Fire doesn't have a release date yet, but I expect it will be out shortly after the MacKinnon's Rangers series. Chronologically, it fits there, as it is set in 1763, at the end of the French and Indian War.
The covers for Surrender 2.0 and Untamed 2.0 are already done, and I love them! Watch my blog for updates and new details!
Defiant set for a July 3, 2012 release!
I am hard at work writing Connor's story. The book was supposed to be released in February 2012, but due to other demands on my time I've fallen behind. At this point, it will be out on July 3, 2012. The third book in the MacKinnon's Rangers series—Connor's story—is something I'm asked about almost every day.
For a time, I was afraid the series was dead. I left the publisher that had been putting out my historicals for a couple of reasons. My editor there left to go to a different publishing house, and the length of their books kept shrinking so that every time I wrote a novel it had to be shorter than the one before it. I didn't feel like writing stories that were going to be cut just to satisfy a publisher's maximum allowable page size. I'm telling stories, not putting words together to fit a predetermined space.
Although leaving turned out to be the right decision—that publisher is no longer publishing print books—it meant for a time that MacKinnon's Rangers historical was dead. Fortunately, my editor at Penguin/Berkley Sensation, which publishes my I-Team series, wanted my historicals, so now my Rangers have a home again.
I can't tell you how much I've looked forward to writing this story! Thank you for your patience over the past couple of years. I know it's a long wait, but that wait is winding down. Watch my blog for excerpts.
Breaking Point gets starred review from Publishers Weekly

I was thrilled to learn in late March that Breaking Point (I-Team Series, Book V) received a starred review from Publishers Weekly. It's the second starred review I've received from them. (The first was for Untamed.)
Here's what they said:
Clare's fifth I-Team novel (after Naked Edge) sizzles with constant adventure and romance. U.S. Marshal Zach McBride is the unwilling guest of Mexican drug lords when he meets another prisoner, American journalist Natalie Benoit. The two join forces to escape and make their way across the treacherous Mexican desert toward the U.S. border. Their romance and mutual attraction develop as they share their unhappy life stories and dodge their enemies in one harrowing encounter after another. Natalie's initial fragility is juxtaposed against Zach's stalwart nature as he helps unearth her hidden strengths and she encourages him to listen to his heart. Complex characterizations and a fast-paced plot filled with sensual romance and mystery make this a highly enjoyable read for newcomers and series fans alike. (May)
Answers to your most frequently asked questions
Lately, I've been getting the same questions a dozen times a day, so I thought I'd post some answers here and perhaps alleviate some confusion.
Q. Do you plan to write more books in the MacKinnon's Rangers series?
A: YES! Next is Connor's book, which I'm calling Defiant. I had planned to give Joseph his own story and Lord William, too, but I'm not sure that will happen.
Q. When is Connor MacKinnon's book going to be released?
A. Defiant, the third book in the MacKinnon's Rangers series—Connor's story—will be out in the spring of 2012. I know that seems like it will never come, but in publishing terms, it's not that far away.
Q. Do you plan to write more I-Team books?
A: Absolutely. As soon as Defiant is done, I'll start working on the next I-Team story. I'm not sure whose story it will be yet. Watch my blog for excerpts. I know a lot of you love Holly —I do, too— but I'm saving Horny Holly for last.
Q. Why do you go so long between books?
A: I write two different sub-genres, plus I work full time. On top of that, I'm a very picky writer and try very hard to write the best book possible. I'd rather make people wait than churn out garbage sequels.
Perfume designed exclusively for Unlawful Contact!
I am so excited to announce that internationally known perfumer Dawn Spencer Hurwitz has created two new scents in honor of Unlawful Contact. Dawn designs scents for Hollywood stars, New York jet-setters and Parisian socialites. Using natural oils and essences, not chemicals, she makes her perfumes by hand, one drop at a time, just as perfumers did three hundred years ago.
I met Dawn this past summer and was so impressed by her work that I asked if she’d be interested in turning the characters in Unlawful Contact into scents. She read the manuscript, took lots of notes about Marc’s and Sophie’s personalities, and then began to turn those into scents.
I went in to sniff the final results last week, and I love them! I’ve been wearing “Sophie” ever since and dabbing “Marc” on all the men in my life. “Marc” captures the scents of Colorado’s mountains together with Marc Hunter’s deep masculine sexuality, while “Sophie” captures Sophie’s sexy, sleek sophistication with a touch of innocent “fairy sprite” sensuality. The two work well together, both featuring certain musk notes that make them a “couple.”
Working with an artist like Dawn was so much fun. She and I are talking about doing it again, perhaps going backward with the I-Team series. “Julian” anyone?
The scents are now done and can be ordered from her Web site at www.dshperfumes.com. Click on Essence Oils. The perfumes are part of the Essence Studio collection. She has a variety of sizes available, including samples for under $4.
