I was lucky enough while an exchange student to attend Sorø Akademi, the oldest boarding school in Denmark. It started as a monastery in the year 1,000 but became a boarding school for Denmark's male elite after the Reformation. I attended as a day student and made some of the best friends I'll ever have while going to school there. The well in the center of the photo supplied water to the monks and dates back to 1,000 — meaning that it's more than 1,000 years old. [BACK]
